New year, same problem. That’s the sobering message from Delta police who released their impaired driving statistics on its social media platforms Wednesday afternoon.

DPD said last week, officers served three drivers 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions. All three drivers blew a 'FAIL' on both their first and second blows into the Approved Screening Device, said DPD

What does that mean for these drivers?

- No driving their vehicle or any vehicle for 90 days.

- The vehicle they were driving is impounded for 30 days.

- They are responsible for paying the impound and towing fee (approx $680).

- They will need to pay an administrative penalty and a licence re0instatement fee

- They will get a tongue-lashing from our followers in the comments.

“We will continue to report on these numbers each week. If there is something specific that you would like to know about IRP's or driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, please direct message us on our Facebook page,” said DPD.
