Eastlink customers are expressing their frustrations over a loss of many of their popular channels.

This week, Eastlink sent out and email to customers in Delta stating that as of June 27, they would no longer be carrying Corus TV channels, which includes HGTV, W Network and Showcase.

Residents posted their anger at the loss of these services to local Facebook groups and the Optimist newsroom received several angry emails questioning the decision and the lack of answers from the company.

The Optimist reached out to Eastlink for comment and received a statement via email on Friday morning.

“We worked very hard to reach an agreement with Corus that would not impact the availability of these channels,” said Eastlink CEO Jeff Gillham. “Unfortunately, we were unable to reach such an agreement, which means we have to remove these channels from our lineup as of June 27.”

Gillham said the company recognizes that this is disappointing for some customers and will impact customers in different ways, depending on their viewing preferences and packages.

“We are working closely with our customers and making every effort to ensure their individual needs are supported in a way that is meaningful to them,” he added. “Customers will continue to receive the same number of channels with comparable programming like Super Channel Heart and Home for example (which carries movies and other programs similar to W Network) as well as channels like Cottage Life, Discovery Channel, Smithsonian, FX, Family and many others. Customers also have the flexibility to customize their channel lineup with TV Channel Exchange and will have access to new TV package options and other supportive offers.”
