North Vancouver’s former illegal hostel townhouse owner was arrested Tuesday after interfering with the court ordered sale of the property.

Last month, a B.C. Supreme Court judge ordered Emily Yu evicted from her home by Nov. 30 to prevent her from interfering with its court ordered sale. The judge also directed the RCMP to assist the court bailiff with getting access to the suite in the meantime.

Yu was briefly handcuffed and detained by North Vancouver RCMP members after she refused to allow the bailiff and a real estate agent in.

On Wednesday, RCMP spokesman Sgt. Peter DeVries said they will be recommending the Crown lay one criminal charge of disobeying a court order against Yu.

Police will be available for further attempts at executing the court’s orders, DeVries said.

Stephen Hamilton, the lawyer representing the strata, said they are not seeking any further legal recourse.

Yu did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
