The City of Delta is soliciting proposals for design and construction services for roadway and utility improvements along 84 Avenue between 108 and 112 Streets in North Delta.

More improvements are planned for 84 Avenue.

The city has issued a call for bids for an engineering consultant to come up with a preliminary design for roadway and utility upgrades, as well as prepare construction cost estimates, for upgrades which would take place on the avenue between 108 and 112 streets in North Delta.

A section of 84 Avenue between 112 and 116 streets was upgraded in 2019 and the improvements between 108 and 112 streets are to be similar, with the exception of protected cycle facilities.

The improvements are to include, among other things, roadway upgrades, parking pockets, barrier curb and gutters on both sides, grassed boulevards for trees and 1.5-metre-wide asphalt cycle tracks on both sides with buffers between the sidewalk and cycle tracks.

The project is to also see bus stop improvements including shelters, bicycle bypasses or other measures to prevent collisions between cyclists and bus passengers.

The roadway will also see sewer upgrades, new decorative LED street lighting, crosswalk improvements on 84 Avenue at 110 Street and a new traffic signal at Brooke Road.

The design is scheduled for completion in 2021/2022 with construction in 2025/2026.
