Festivities continue Friday, Dec. 2 with the annual children's parade following the tree lighting.

Starting at about 7: 30 p.m., the parade provides a link between the tree lighting ceremony and the carol ships in Ladner Harbour.

Organized by the Ladner Business Association, the parade gives local youngsters a chance to decorate their bikes, wagons and strollers to celebrate the spirit of the Christmas season.

Previously, a float-type parade had been held in Ladner, but organizers decided to cancel it due to a lack on entries. That's when LBA member Kate Armstrong came up with the idea of having a children's parade instead.

It's become a tradition and is now in its 10th year.

The parade is a bigger draw for both participants and spectators every year, and entrants will go to great lengths to decorate their mode of transportation.

Anyone wishing to be in the parade this year is asked to meet in front of Pets-N-Us on 48th Avenue at 7: 15 p.m.

Organizers say there's no need to come early.

The route takes the parade north along Delta Street to Chisholm Street and on to the government wharf.
