Delta Police are investigating an incident Saturday afternoon in North Delta involving a firearm.

Speculation on social media including the North Delta Community Corner Facebook group suggested that the incident was a large scale drug bust operation, but police confirm that was not the case.

DPD were called to a residence on 118th Street in North Delta on Saturday afternoon regarding a dispute between two individuals known to each other.

“Police were informed that the dispute involved a weapon. Therefore, in order to ensure the safety of the public, there was a more significant police response to the area,” said DPD spokesperson Cris Leykauf. “Officers established a perimeter around the residences involved, and all those present in the two involved residences were called out of the homes. Police then conducted a search, and seized a firearm.”
