The former Delta municipal staffer currently serving time in prison for child porn charges was back in court in Vancouver Wednesday morning to face a sexrelated charge dating back almost 40 years.

Kip Gaudry, 60, is currently serving an 18-month sentence for possession of child pornography.

He appeared in a Vancouver courtroom via video-link to face a charge of indecent assault. The alleged incident, which came to light last fall, took place in Winnipeg in the summer of 1973 and involved an underage girl.

The case was adjourned until Jan. 11 when Gaudry is expected to enter a guilty plea.

Gaudry was hired by Delta in 2001 and was named head of the engineering department just a few months before he was charged in 2009.

Before that he served as director of community planning.

He was suspended without pay in March 2009 before resigning a few days later.

Officers searched both his home in North Delta and his office at municipal hall, seizing computers and other technical equipment. Investigators found more than 10,000 still images and 364 videos on the computers.

Gaudry has a history of sexual offences involving minors.

In 1995, he pleaded guilty to nine charges of sexual assault involving teenaged girls while district administrator for the community of Houston in west-central B.C.

The assaults took place between 1986 and 1994. He was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison by a Prince George judge.
