Despite some dreary weather, last month’s Winded fun run raised a record amount for charity.

Hosted by Four Winds Brewery for the third straight year, the Boundary Bay run raised $11,809.53 for Deltassist Family and Community Services.

Almost 250 runners took part in the five-kilometre run on Sept. 22, proceeds from which support programs and services provided by Deltassist.

The fundraising record was due in part to many new corporate sponsors this year. This year’s sponsors were: Century Group, Glenmore Custom Print and Packaging, GML Mechanical, Muscle Memory, Summit Labels, The Run Inn, Brooks Running, Newman’s Fine Foods, Double R Rentals, Dickie Ginger Beer and Coronation Recognition.

Four Winds Brewery plans to continue hosting the annual event as the followership keeps growing. After the rainy run, participants were treated to bratwursts on the barbecue sponsored by Newman’s Fine Foods as well as beer from Four Winds Brewery.

“We see Winded as such a great opportunity to engage with our community while raising much needed funds for our friends at Deltassist,” said Adam Mills from Four Winds.

“We are extremely thankful to our community for supporting this event. What a way to get like-minded individuals together to raise money and awareness, while promoting a balanced relationship with beer.”
