The George Mackie Library will be closed starting June 6 for roof repairs.

North Delta’s George Mackie Library is getting a new roof, and will be closed starting Monday, June 6 until Aug. 1.

During the temporary closure, a pop-up library will be open to the public at Sungod Recreation Centre (7815 – 112 Street). Hours will remain the same: Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays & Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Come to the pop-up library to pick up holds, return materials, and register for a free library card. Drop by to ask questions, do the crossword, or read a magazine. A small collection of items will also be available for browsing and borrowing.

Visit the pop-up library for in-person Babytimes and Storytimes too!

Start early with Babytime on Thursdays, June 9 to 28, from 10:30 to 11 a.m.

Help your baby develop speech and language skills. Enjoy bouncing, singing and rhyming with stories.

Babytime is a fun, social bonding activity for babies and caregivers.

Introduce kids to the love of books and language with Storytime on Fridays, June 10 to July 29, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Children and caregivers will enjoy interactive stories, songs, rhymes and more. Storytime prepares children to learn to read. For a complete list of both online events and in-person events for all ages, visit the events page at www.fvrl.ca.

The return book bins will remain open at the library, and another return book bin will be located at the Sungod Recreation Centre for your convenience.

During the closure, call the library at 604-594-8155 for up-to-date recorded information.
