Effective today (Sept. 13) the City of Delta joins organizations and businesses across B.C. with the proof of vaccination required for certain discretionary activities outlined by the provincial government.
Visitors will be asked to show their B.C. Vaccine Card before participating in the following activities within city facilities:
-Weight rooms and recreational gym sports
-Fitness classes (including adult dance classes but excluding structured child and youth programs)
-Adult sports programs
-Indoor groups activities (including allotments and rentals) with more than 50 people
The B.C. Vaccine Card is not required for the following activities in city facilities:
-Children under the age of 12
-Indoor youth recreation sport for those 19 years old or younger
-Swimming pools, unless it is an event
-Skating rinks when not being used for adult sport
-Health and social services
-Government services
-Workers at a workplace engaging in their work activities
-Employment related training
-Before and after school activities for K to 12 students
-Student events and activities in K-12 that are held within City of Delta facilities
The BC Vaccine Card includes a secure, individualized QR code and an image showing whether a person is “vaccinated” or “partially vaccinated.” People can get their BC Vaccine Card online.
As of today, before participating in specific activities as outlined by the provincial government, visitors must present their BC Vaccine Card showing they have received at least one dose of the vaccine. Those 19 and older must also present government-issued photo identification.
By Oct. 24, visitors must have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine to participate in the designated activities.
In keeping with provincial guidelines, masks continue to be required in all indoor City of Delta facilities when not engaged in physical activity.
