The current provincial health orders on gatherings and events have been extended through to Feb. 5.

The number of people confirmed infected with coronavirus in Delta has gone up.

According to the most recent B.C. Centre for Disease Control’s weekly community map, which covers the period Dec. 27, 2020 to Jan. 2, 2021, Delta has 134 cases.

Surrey, once again, leads by a wide number with 901 current cases, while Richmond has 139 cases.

According to the previous weekly community map, which covered the period Dec. 20 to 26, Delta had 116 cases, Surrey had 971 cases and Richmond had 114 cases.

The Delta numbers, once again, aren’t broken down to the communities of Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta, something the City of Delta has requested multiple times.

The BCCDC on Thursday also released its monthly COVID-19 map, this one covering January to December 2020.

The map indicates Delta for the period had a total of 1,960 cases, while Richmond had 1,531.

Surrey had 16,109 cases, far exceeding Vancouver’s total of 8,249.

The previous BCCDC map, which covered January to November, had Delta at 1,331 cases of COVID-19.
