The City of Delta has requested, but not received, more community-specific COVID-19 data, breaking down the number of COVID-19 cases for Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta.

The number of people in the City of Delta who contracted the coronavirus is continuing an upward climb as cases across the province surge.

According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control's weekly COVID-19 community map released Thursday, which covers the period March 28 to April 3, Delta had 199 people infected.

Meanwhile, Surrey stood at 1,254 cases, Richmond at 218 cases, Vancouver at 1,211 cases, Langley at 222 cases and Burnaby at 469 cases.

The BCCDC this week also released overall numbers for communities, covering the period January 2020 to March 2021.

Those numbers indicate Delta had a total of 3,337 confirmed cases, while Surrey lead the way among B.C. municipalities with 26,103 cases.
