An original Christmas concert this weekend will benefit a local charity.

Christmas Presence, a concert of songs, poems and stories, is being presented at St. David's Anglican Church in Tsawwassen Saturday night.

Ladner resident Allen Desnoyers has put together the evening of music, drama and hilarity to benefit the Little House Society.

Desnoyers, a musician, actor and playwright, and a co-founder of Vancouver's Pacific Theatre, has put on many local and national productions.

Desnoyers has traveled the country with some of his other, larger productions.

Just this year he toured four provinces with The Klondike Rag, a musical about the Klondike gold rush.

He also saw one of his plays, When the Sun Meets the Earth, remounted for Rosebud Dinner Theatre's 25th anniversary in Calgary (Desnoyers founded Rosebud Opera House in the early 1980s).

As well, he performed an original show for Canadian Pacific Railway's annual awards ceremony and presented The Birth of the CPR for Wainwright, Alberta's 100th anniversary.

Closer to home, he wrote the B.C. 150 play for Fort Langley and toured his musical, The Birth of British Columbia, around the province.

The Little House Society is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and advancing substance abuse and addiction education and abstinence-based recovery. It is in the process of building a new facility on 12th Avenue in Tsawwassen.

Christmas Presence starts at 7: 30 p.m. at St. David's Anglican Church, 1115-51A St.

Donations to the Little House Society will be gratefully accepted.

Holiday refreshments will be served following the performance.
