Major upgrades are going to get underway this year for a Ladner street.

The 44 Avenue Roadway and Utility Improvements Project will take place between 48B Street and Arthur Drive.

The project includes roadway widening, repaving, curb and gutter, work, placement of a concrete sidewalk on the north side of the roadway, a multi-use pathway, drainage improvements, an upgraded crosswalk and ornamental street lighting.

The multi-use pathway will be a dedicated off-street travel lane for cyclists and pedestrians.

The project has a total price tag of $3.8 million, which includes the initial design work and construction.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Ladner, road upgrades are underway on 41B Street.

It resulted in complaints about an increase in truck traffic on River Road West, prompting the city to implement a detour for trucks to use Deltaport Way.
