Cocoru Beer and Chicken is set to open in May at the now vacated Cimona Cafe site in Steveston

The restaurant taking over from the departed Cimona Café in Steveston is expected to open in mid-May.

Jun Kim, the owner of Cocoru Beer and Chicken – which specializes in Korean chicken and local beer – told the Richmond News that it plans to bring to the Bayview Street location most of its menu items from its Alexandra Road restaurant.

Kim said he will likely add “some twists” to the new menu to “match the environment in Steveston.”

He added that they plan to keep the current location at Alexandra Road open and are working right now on renovating the interior of the former Cimona Café.

Kim said he plans to reach out to local breweries to see “which beer would work best for the Cocoru Steveston.”

The News reported earlier this week how Cimona Café - one of Steveston Village’s much-loved breakfast and brunch spots - packed up and moved to Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast.
