The Ladner Legion will remain closed due to COVID-19.

The branch on Delta Street last weekend made the decision, out of abundance of caution, to temporarily close until further notice due to members calling to inform the legion they have tested positive.

Manager Jacky Hillairet told the Optimist the two members who tested positive did not get the virus from the legion.

She noted they did not have symptoms when they came in for dinner and started getting symptoms a couple of days later.

The friends the two were seated with were tested and everyone is negative, she noted, adding they wanted to close for a short time to do a deep clean as an added precaution.

Noting the main concern is the safety of staff, members and guests, she said a special executive meeting was held this week.

She said the decision was made to keep the branch closed until mid-January.

Hillairet noted the provincial health orders stipulating that only family members can be seated together, as well as no meat draws, pool or Monday Night Football events has made it hard for the branch to remain open.
