The Ladner teacher facing sexual assault charges will appear in court later this month.

Robin Wait, 43, a teacher at Delta Secondary School, is facing two charges of sexual assault and two charges of sexual interference of a person under 16 stemming from two separate alleged incidents.

Police were called to the Ladner high school on Nov. 4 after a young girl reported that she had been assaulted by an unknown adult near the school gym.

After launching an investigation into the allegations, police arrested Wait on Nov. 6.

During the investigation, a second alleged incident that occurred in May, which prompted the second set of charges, came to light.

Wait, who taught English at the school and coached boys basketball, was released on bail and is currently suspended with pay.

Wait was scheduled to appear in Surrey Provincial Court on Monday. The matter was adjourned until Dec. 19. He has yet to enter a plea.
