A pandemic isn’t getting in the way of the fifth Annual Ladner Village Scarecrow Contest.

Village merchants are encouraged to participate in this fun event and get in the Halloween spirit. The contest runs until Oct. 31 and shoppers can vote on their favourite scarecrows with ballot boxes available at Angela’s Boutique and Camille’s Boutique.

“Last year we had 36 entries and you just never know who’s going to come out of the blue,” laughed Angela Husvik, owner of Angela’s Boutique and who launched the contest after getting the idea from a trip to San Francisco.

Merchants are encouraged to be creative and give their scarecrow a name. Angela’s Boutique’s entry this year is the fishing themed lady “A-Net.”

Readers can also see some of this year’s entries on the Ladnerscares Instagram page.
