Man allegedly commits indecent act outside Delta high school

Police investigating whether same individual is behind two separate incidents

Investigators are asking anyone who was near Burnsview Secondary on Nov. 18 and who may have seen the suspect to call police.

Delta Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly committed an indecent act outside a high school recently.

On Friday, Nov. 18 police responded to a report of the indecent that had occurred earlier in the day near Burnsview Secondary School in North Delta.

At approximately 11:37 a.m., a witness observed a man masturbating in the wooded area behind the school, a news release noted, adding that the male ran away after being seen committing the act. 

The suspect is described as a South Asian or dark-skinned male, 25-to-30 years old with a short beard, large nose, large lips, and approximately 5-foot-8 to six-feet tall.

He was also wearing a black puffer jacket, red t-shirt, black jeans, black shoes, black toque with a brown bobble on top and with Airpods in his ears.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area of Burnsview Secondary that day between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., and who may have seen the male, to contact the Delta Police at 604-946-4411. 

If you have dash camera video or surveillance video from your home in the same area, you are also asked to contact investigators.  Please reference file number 2022-26112.

According to Delta Police, on Jan. 21, 2022, police responded to a similar incident in the same area.  In that instance, the suspect was described as a South Asian male, aged 20-to-30 years old, six-feet-tall, with broad shoulders, and wearing a sky-blue toque with a grey zip-up hoodie, black windbreaker and blue jeans. While the two incidents are not confirmed to be connected, the possibility is being considered and evidence from both files is being compared, police note.
