Mayor Lois Jackson and fellow incumbents in lead in Delta race

It appears Delta council and the Delta school board will be filled with familiar faces as early returns are favouring incumbents.

It appears Delta council and the Delta school board will be filled with familiar faces as early returns are favouring incumbents.

With 23 of 31 polls reporting, Mayor Lois Jackson is well ahead of challengers Krista Engelland, Heather King and John Meech. Jackson has an almost 2,000-vote lead over second-place Engelland.

Council incumbents are also faring well, with Ian Paton, Bruce McDonald, Soctt Hamilton and Robert Campbell in the top six along with Sylvia Bishop and former councilor Jeannie Kanakos.

The school board race is also favouring incumbents, although some newcomers are making inroads. Four of the six trustees running for re-election - Dale Saip, Laura Dixon, Fabian Milat and Simon Truelove - are among the top seven vote getters. They are joined by former Delta Teachers' Association president Val Windsor and fellow newcomers Nick Kanakos and Donna Burke.
