The South Delta Food Bank could be located in a new, larger home.
A development application has been submitted to the City of Delta for a new building at the Lighthouse Church site at 5545 Ladner Trunk Road that would provide permanent and expanded space for uses already on-site operating out of temporary buildings, such as the food bank and a childcare facility, as well as new office space for community service groups.
A report to council notes the application, which is still under early review, would see a new 11,000-square-foot, three-storey building along the Ladner Trunk Road frontage in front of the existing church building, which would be retained.
The new building, which would have more square footage than the church, would need a number of variances approved by council for the proposal to proceed.Staff note in a report to council this week, they anticipate bringing the application forward for preliminary consideration in the next few months.
