The Tour de Delta will have a new look when it kicks off its 11th edition tonight.

Instead of a time trial, the opening race of this year's cycling weekend will be a fan-friendly criterium on the streets of North Delta. The MK Delta Criterium gets underway at 6:30 p.m.

Tour de Delta stalwart Andrew Pinfold, who has tasted victory at every criterium in B.C. Superweek over the years, is excited by the schedule modification.

"I also think the criterium is going to be more exciting for the people watching just because of the fast nature of criterium racing," Pinfold said this week.

The racing continues Saturday evening in Ladner Village with the always-popular Brenco Criterium and will conclude Sunday morning in Tsawwassen with the White Spot Road Race.
