Sir Alexander Mackenzie Elementary School has had an exposure event.

Another potential COVID-19 exposure event has been recorded at a Vancouver elementary school.

According to Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) students at Sir Alexander Mackenzie Elementary School may have been exposed to the virus on Wednesday, Sept. 29. They issue potential exposure notices when the risk may include school groups.

"If there is an increased risk of ongoing transmission of COVID-19 to groups they were a part of (eg. a class), a school exposure notice will be posted," VCH states on their website.

They don't state whether it was a student or staff member.

VCH advises parents that if they haven't been directly contacted by public health, then students should remain in class.

"Children and youth continue to be at low risk for serious outcomes from COVID-19, but research has shown missing school impacts mental health, social connection and learning outcomes," VCH explains on its website.

This is the third potential exposure VCH has issued a notice about this school year. Earlier this month alerts were issued for both Kerrisdale Elementary School and John Norquay Elementary School.
