New sign eyed for Delta's Boundary Bay

City staff earlier this year received a request from the local community through Mayor George Harvie to investigate options to re-establish a community entrance sign

Boundary Bay Village could be getting a new community sign.

City council at its May 16th meeting endorsed starting a neighbourhood consultation to see what residents think about a proposed sign and its location at the entrance to the community.

There had been a community entrance sign that was situated off Boundary Bay Road, across from the Monterra development, but it was removed about a decade ago.

A Delta staff report notes there is now community interest in re-establishing a sign in a new location on the south side of 3 Avenue, within city park reserve lands.

The report notes local residents have brought forward a design which reflects the original sign graphics and are seeking the support of the city in designing and constructing the new sign.

Area residents have advised city staff that they would be seeking community financial support to offset a portion of the costs.

A feedback form will be mailed out to local residents and they will have until June 10 to reply.
