North Delta Crime Beat: Be on the lookout for stolen rototiller and electric scooters

Files of interest for this week from Delta Police.

The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *Jan. 16, 10500 Block of Sheaves Place: Complainant reported the theft of three electric scooters and a rototiller from their residence sometime over the past several days. Two of the scooters described as red GIO brand and the other as blue unknown brand. The rototiller is described as a heavy duty Sears Craftsman brand. Total value of items stolen $6,500. No surveillance video available. 

*Jan. 17, 8500 Block of 108th Street: Complainant reported the catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle, left outside their residence, sometime overnight. Complainant advised they have reported theft to ICBC and a file number was provided for insurance purposes.

*Jan. 17, 800 Block of Cliveden Avenue: Complainant reported that two males approached the building and entered through a bay door and stole two electric bikes valued at $1,500 each. The property was entered by cutting a hole in the fence. Both suspects were wearing masks covering their faces and gloves. Incident still under investigation with surveillance video being reviewed. 

*Jan. 18, Nordel Way and Highway 91: Vehicle clocked travelling 114 km/hr in a posted 60 km/h zone was stopped for driving at excessive speed. Driver given a ticket and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver left in a taxi.

*Jan. 18, 7800 Block of 112th Street: Complainant reported the theft of their employer’s van parked at the recreation centre. Review of surveillance video revealed a male entering the unlocked vehicle and driving away from the area. Surrey RCMP confirmed they had recovered the vehicle which was stored with the towing company. The registered owner of the vehicle notified.

*Jan. 19, 10200 Block of River Road: Complainant reported that their motorcycle was stolen sometime overnight. The motorcycle is described as a black 2006 Suzuki MC value at $3,000. The motorcycle is non-operational as it cannot be turned on due to mechanical issues. Bike added to the Canadian Police Information Centre as stolen. 

*Jan. 21, 9100 Block of 118A Street: Delta Police received a report from Vancouver Police of a possibly impaired driver heading to their home in Delta. Police located the driver and conducted a traffic stop. Indication of liquor consumption detected and subsequently the driver provided two breath samples with both reading “Warn”.  The driver was given an immediate 30-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impoundment. The vehicle towed from the scene.
