North Delta Crime Beat: Business reports theft of donation box

The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *June 23, 1300 block of Cliveden Avenue: A business reported a male had stolen the donation box containing approximately $150 from the front counter. The suspect is described as white, approximately 30 years of age, six feet tall, slim build, and wearing black and white shoes, white T-shirt, black hoody with white design, black baseball hat with a large white star, and carrying a blue and yellow backpack. Video surveillance to be sent to police.

*June 24, 800 block of Cliveden Avenue: A business reported the theft of catalytic converters from two of their vehicles parked at the rear of the building. Police attended and found a broken saw in an open gated area. No suspect identified or video surveillance available. The theft was reported to ICBC.

*June 25, 1500 block of Derwent Way: Complainant reported their unlocked vehicle had been entered sometime overnight and a wallet stolen. The wallet belonged to a friend who had been driving the vehicle. The wallet contained approximately $1,000 cash, driver’s license, and credit cards. The suspect also attempted to start the vehicle by hotwiring the car but was not successful.

*June 26, 1500 block of Cliveden Avenue: Complainant reported the theft of their vehicle parked at the rear of their home. The vehicle was left unlocked and contained minimal fuel.  The car may have been started with a key hidden in a concealed metal box. Police provided the complainant with a file number for insurance purposes.

*June 26, 7400 block of 118 Street: Complainant reported a break and enter at a relative’s home while they are out of town. The residence does have an alarm system, but the alarm was not active. Point of entry was a basement side door, which was kicked in. The bedrooms were rummaged through and approximately $40,000 in jewelry and clothing stolen. The complainant feels this was a targeted theft. Identification Services were called in to process the scene. Investigation continues.

*June 26, 11000 block of 84A Avenue: Complainant reported multiple thefts from a gated community. Two suspects jumping the fence were observed on surveillance video. Items stolen include a $200 ladder, $300 sample case, and an adult bicycle valued at $500. The sample case was later recovered in a garbage bin.
