North Delta Crime Beat: Dumped grapes could pose problem for dogs says complainant

The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. Here are a selection of files for the past week:

*Sept. 20, 1:52 a.m., 6000 block 120th St: Complainant reported hearing a banging sound outside of a nearby home and was concerned due to break-ins in the past. Police attended but found no signs of attempted forced entry. Area patrols negative for anything suspicious. The complainant was thankful for police attendance nonetheless.

*Sept. 22, 1:40 p.m., 7000 block Bates Road: Complainant reported a vehicle had dumped a large bucket of wine grapes at the entrance of a park and was concerned as grapes can seriously harm dogs if ingested. Police notified Delta Works for cleanup, but were unable to speak with the driver of the vehicle.

*Sept. 22, 2:38 p.m., 10500 block Nordel Way: Police were conducting proactive patrols when a vehicle passed them at nearly double the speed limit. Police initiated a traffic stop, issued the driver an excessive speeding ticket, and impounded their vehicle.

*Sept. 23, 11 a.m., 8,000 block of 120th St.: Police were called to an underground parkade after a Loss Prevention Officer reported two males with stolen goods had fled westbound on 80th Ave. near 120th St. in a silver minivan. Police confirmed the plates on the vehicle were reported stolen, and the investigation is ongoing. *Sept. 25, 2:56 a.m., 10800 block 72nd Ave: Complainant reported they observed two males drinking, and then getting into a vehicle without a designated driver. Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, where the driver provided two “fail” readings into an approved screening device. The driver was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and had their vehicle towed.
