The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. Here are a selection of files for the past week:
*Oct. 10, 7:14 p.m., 8200 block of 111 St.: Police were dispatched for a reported theft from vehicle. Police were advised that a wallet, sunglasses, cash, and various pieces of ID were taken from the vehicle, which was likely left unlocked. Police advised the complainant to report their cards as stolen, and be hyper-aware for cybersecurity threats moving forward. No suspects, witnesses or CCTV were available.
*Oct. 12, 11:38 am, 1000 block of Glenrose Dr.: Police were contacted about a theft of two packages from the front door. This follows another recent reported theft of packages in Delta. Residents are advised to make arrangements to have packages delivered to a secure location, or alternatively to a neighbour who is home during the day.
*Oct. 14, 9:34 a.m., 1100 block of 92A Ave.: Police were contacted reporting a theft of snow tires from an open carport. Police were advised there was no witnesses or CCTV available, and date of theft was uncertain.
*Oct. 15, 9:39 a.m., 8600 block of 120 St.: Police conducted a traffic stop. Upon identifying the driver, police were made aware by dispatch that they were in breach of multiple conditions including not to possess any tools, which police located in the vehicle. Police arrested the driver without issue.
*Oct. 15, 8200 block of 109B St.: After observing a vehicle swerving in the lane, police pulled over a vehicle. The driver tried to provide a false name, but police successfully identified him. Police read the driver the Approved Screening Device demand, which led to him providing two samples resulting in a “FAIL” reading. Police issued the driver a 90-day driving prohibition, and impounded the vehicle for a mandatory 30-day period.
*Oct. 17, 10800 block of Nordel Way: Police conducted a traffic stop, and upon identifying the driver, police found them to be driving while prohibited. The driver was arrested without issue and released on scene with a court appearance notice after their vehicle was impounded.
