North Delta Crime Beat: Work van stolen with $10,000 worth of tools

The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *Aug. 2, 8100 Block of Nordel Way: Complainant reported their wallet had been stolen from their vehicle that had been left with the windows open and possibly unlocked. The wallet contained debit cards and driver’s license. Complainant advised to contact the bank, Equifax, and TransUnion. A file number for insurance purposes was provided to the complainant

*Aug. 4, 9200 Block of Hardy Place: Complainant reported they were contacted by “Fido” by phone and were offered a new cell phone and plan for which they e-transferred $299 for purchase and delivery. When the complainant went to the Rogers store to pick up the phone they were advised they had been a victim of fraud. The complainant was advised to contact their bank and Equifax as they had provided the fraudsters with banking information.

*Aug. 5, 7400 Block of 118th Street: Complainant reported their work van, containing approximately $10,000 in tools, was stolen from outside their residence sometime earlier in the morning. A neighbour’s surveillance video revealed two males with one of them entering the vehicle. The footage provided to police with a list of stolen items. Information regarding the vehicle entered in the Canadian Police Information Centre.

*Aug. 8, 7100 Block of 120th Street: The Loss Prevention Officer of a business reported a theft in progress. The suspect had taken various items and left the store without payment.  Police intercepted the suspect who had tossed the items on the ground. The suspect was arrested by police and charged with theft.
