Surrey RCMP have confirmed that one person has died following a house fire on Monday morning.
Shortly before 6 a.m. on April 5, Surrey RCMP were called to assist the Surrey Fire Service with a residential fire, where a 49-year-old man was found deceased inside the residence, in the 11700-block of 96 Avenue.
Delta fire was first on scene and Delta police assisted RCMP with traffic control in the area.
The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit assumed conduct of the investigation and are working to determine the cause of the death and fire.
“While the investigation is ongoing, preliminarily no foul play is suspected in the man’s death. The BC Coroner Service is also conducting a parallel investigation,” said Cpl. Joanie Sidhu.
