BC Conservation Officers (BCCOS) have charged a person after seen tossing food to a bear along Highway 16.
The charge, according to the Service's Facebook page, is for intentionally feeding dangerous wildlife after a motorist witnessed an individual throw a box of cereal out of a vehicle.
They contacted police after seeing the incident near Kitwanga, located about 485 km west of Prince George.
The information was given to Skeena Conservation Officers, who were in the area, and then went to the individual’s home to hand them a $345 ticket.
Under the Wildlife Act, it is an offence to feed dangerous wildlife as doing so creates a serious risk to public safety and the safety of the bear.
