A last-minute replacement is now a regular partner for one of the most popular attractions at the long-running Ladner May Days that gets underway next Friday.
It was a year ago when the fair welcomed Shooting Star Amusements to run the midway at Memorial Park when West Coast Amusements didn’t have enough workers coming off the two-year pandemic. Organizers were impressed enough to continue its partnership with Mission-based Shooting Star and even had the blessing of West Coast to proceed.
“We had talked to West Coast Amusements because they had been with us for a long time. But they handed it over to Shooting Star because we had already worked with them last year,” said May Days chair Missy Thornton. So the three of us kind of worked together on (the transition).
“Shooting Star was wonderful a year ago. They did a great job.”
This year’s midway will once again include rides for all ages including: The Spider, The Sizzler, The Zipper, Zero Gravity, The Lightning Bolt, The Ferris wheel, Berry-Go-Round, Bumper Cars, Creepy Castle, Go Gator Coaster, Mini Pirate Ship and Elephants and Jets.
Opening night on Friday, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., always attracts big crowds to the midway — not only for the rides but for games and food favourites too, including cotton candy, corn dogs and mini-donuts.
The midway will also operate on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All day ride wrist bands are $40. A $5 discount pre-sale is currently underway until May 24th and can be purchased online by visiting here.
Wrist bands and individual ride tickets can also be purchased at the park.
