Open to the public, the Delta Community Office provides an opportunity by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority for people to meet port staff and learn about operations, initiatives and projects, including the proposed Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project.

A scheduled event, that was to take place on Saturday, Aug. 13 at the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority’s Delta Community Office in Ladner, has been cancelled due to a potential protest.

The port authority on Friday confirmed to the Delta Optimist that a decision was made to postpone its upcoming Port Adventure Family Day that was to take place at the office located at Trenant Park Square shopping centre.

The port authority says it recently was made aware of potential protest, but it wasn’t stated which group planned to hold the demonstration that would disrupt the event.

“While we respect the right to a peaceful protest, we want to ensure community members and employees who plan to attend the event have a positive and comfortable experience. As such, we will reschedule the event in the near future,” the port noted in a statement to the Optimist.
