Delta police officers and volunteers were scheduled to be at local high schools Thursday afternoon in the latest attempt to flush out more suspects in last year's Stanley Cup riot.
The Integrated Riot Investigation Team (IRIT), which is comprised of eight police agencies, including Delta, launched its second poster campaign this week with the hope of eliciting the public's help in identifying rioters.
Delta police and volunteers, in partnership with the Delta school board, were to be at secondary schools throughout the municipality to hand out posters of individuals who are suspected of taking part in the riot.
"The message being delivered throughout the day will be asking for the public's help in identifying suspected rioters by looking at the poster and visiting the IRIT website," said Delta police spokesperson Const. Ciaran Feenan.
Delta was one of several law enforcement agencies that sent officers into the city to help on the night of the riot, which followed the Vancouver Canucks' 4-0 loss to Boston in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals last June.
Feenan said Delta has had officers involved in the investigation ever since and so far four of the rioters charged are from Delta. So far, 177 criminal charges have been laid against 67 suspected rioters.
