Richmondites are invited to once again share their thoughts on the city’s upcoming financial plan for the community’s needs for the next five years.

The public can submit comments on the city’s Consolidated 5 Year Financial Plan (2021-2025) online at LetsTalkRichmond.ca by email or mail to the city hall until March 14.

The financial plan is proposed each year after council approves of three spending budgets: the operating budget, the capital budget and the utility budget.

Due to the pandemic, council decided to reduce the 2020 operating budget by 2.01 per cent and will not be recommending any increases "beyond the council policy" this year.

“This plan provides a financial road map for the city to manage its resources, revenues and spending to best serve the community,” says a City of Richmond statement about the financial plan.

“It also ensures the city meets its legal requirement to deliver a balanced budget.”

Comments can be submitted online at LetsTalkRichmond.ca or by email to [email protected] and are due by 11:59 p.m. on March 14.

Written submissions can be mailed to the Finance Department, City of Richmond at 6911 No. 3 Rd., Richmond, B.C., V6Y 2C1.

The financial plan is expected to be brought to council at the March 22 meeting.
