Richmond RCMP starting 'comprehensive' search for missing 88-year-old man

Police are looking for Paul Mellentin from Delta, believed to have been last seen on Monday evening.

Richmond RCMP are conducting a "comprehensive" search operation by land, marine and an unmanned aerial vehicle to find an 88-year-old Delta man.

A concerned community found Paul Mellentin's wallet and gave it to police at 8:45 p.m. on May 29, according to Cpl. Dennis Hwang, Richmond RCMP spokesperson.

Hwang said further personal effects were found at Purpose Park at 11551 Dyke Road, and someone matching Mellentin's description was seen sitting at a bench in the area around 5 p.m. on the same day.

Mellentin is a Caucasian male at five foot, seven inches tall and weighs 177 pounds.

Police are concerned for his well-being and have opened an investigation.
