Rotary clubs set to recognize outstanding Delta youths at banquet next weekend

Nominations for the fourth Delta Rotary Youth Awards have now been finalized. The annual event will take place on Saturday, May 12 with a dinner and ceremony at the Delta Town & Country Inn.

The annual event will take place on Saturday, May 12 with a dinner and ceremony at the Delta Town & Country Inn.

The combined Rotary clubs of Tsawwassen, Ladner and North Delta are pleased to recognize 22 youths, ages 10 to 18, from the community that best represent the spirit in each of the award categories.

These deserving youth from all areas of Delta are truly making a difference, not only in their own community but also in the world around them. Nomination categories include Compassion and Empathy, Inner Strength, Helping Hand and Global. One of the above students will also be presented with Rotary Service Above Self award, which is given to the youth that best represents Rotary's motto.

The Delta Rotary Youth Awards will feature a great dinner with family entertainment to be followed by the presentations.

Rotary is pleased that both Delta police chief Jim Cessford and Delta fire chief Dan Copeland will be on hand as presenters, as well as Tsawwassen's own Olympic gold medalist and Stanley Cup champion Brent Seabrook of the Chicago Blackhawks.
