The outbreak at Delta View was declared in early November.

Another resident at an East Ladner long-term care facility has died due to COVID-19.

In an update by the Good Samaritan Society, which operates the Delta View Care Centre, a 13th resident passed away.

The society also notes 13 residents have recovered while 38 employees have recovered.

No other employees or residents are listed as active cases.

The outbreak at the 296-bed facility was declared in early November.

In a letter this week to families, Scott Fielding, vice-president of operations, quality and clinical supports, provided some good news including an update that COVID-19 vaccinations were administered last weekend, and over 200 residents, employees and essential visitors were immunized.

Some essential visitors were not able to get vaccinated on the first day, but vaccinations continued.

Those who are vaccinated will continue to be required to follow all public health measures in place, including wearing personal protective equipment as appropriate and passing the screening, he explained.

Fraser Health on Friday said that by end of day, it will have completed COVID-19 vaccination clinics in all 151 long-term care and assisted living facilities in the region.

Health region president and CEO Dr. Victoria Lee said not everyone received a vaccine but the “vast majority” of those connected with long-term care will have received a shot.

Outbreaks are still occurring including one declared Friday at Maple Ridge Seniors Village in Maple Ridge.

The health region reiterates it is critically important for people living in the region to use the COVID-19 assessment tool online and get tested as soon as they have COVID-19-like symptoms, even mild ones.
