Prior to moving forward as a finalist to the CWSF, Ahmad won a provincial honour – the Sanofi Biogenius Award, and a divisional award (Engineering & Computing Sciences) for his project in the South Fraser Regional Science Fair.

Congratulations also go to Jai Bhatia, also from Seaquam Secondary for winning two provincial awards in the South Fraser Regional Science Fair – the BC Nature Award and the Sanofi Biogenius Award – for his project Lakebook: A Novel Application to Protect and Conserve Water Bodies With a Tap of a Finger.

The weeklong CWSF brings together the country’s top young scientists in grades 7 to 12. It has been held every year since 1962, except 2020 when it was cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions. In addition to scientific, social and cultural activities, the 500 finalists compete for medals, cash prizes, scholarships and exclusive opportunities.
