The Shady Isle Pirates, an all-ages family friendly group, will be bringing two mini-brigs, the Adventure and Liberte, to Ladner May Days on Saturday and Sunday. Kids and adults will be able to climb aboard a fully functioning small-scale version of a Brigantine, and learn the names of the sails, ropes and naval lore, notes the group's Brian Nix. The group will also will be offering an activity station with cannon firing demonstrations, as well as information regarding West Coast exploration and pirates.
