A unique fundraiser in Tsawwassen last Friday marked a past trek and raised $800 for the Make a Wish Foundation's B.C. and Yukon chapter.

Participants made donations to hit golf balls from a tee box set up at Robb Lucy's home onto a not yet finished green far below at the Tsawwassen Springs Golf Course.

Lucy and seven others were celebrating their 10th anniversary of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and raising over $100,000 for Make a Wish.

"I thought it would be a fun thing to raise some money for Make a Wish 10 years after we climbed," he said.

The group, which also included Tsawwassen's Jim Laughlin and Kerry Bentley, hit balls at the top of the mountain 10 years ago.

"Our guide, he'd never seen a golf club before, he carried a driver up there and eight balls. We all hit one ball off the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro," Lucy said. "We thought, 10 years later, we'd do it here."
