Linda Jackson, Fraser Valley Telus Club community ambassador, made a recent visit to the Delta Hospice Society to present a cheque for $56,526 as part of the Telus commitment to Delta.

"Telus believes in the importance of community and we are pleased to double match donations made to the Delta Hospice Society through the Team Telus Charitable Giving program for the next three years," said Jill Schnarr, vice president of community affairs at Telus.

"Through this program, team members and retirees donate to their charities of choice," said Schnarr.

"We know that Telus team members are proud to support important community health care projects that benefit the communities where they live, work and serve."

The Delta Hospice Society has been fortunate to be the beneficiaries of Telus's Employee and Retiree Charitable Giving Program for the past 10 years. This program will benefit the society even further from 2011-2013 where Telus has made a commitment to double match all donations made to Delta Hospice through this corporate program.

"We would like to thank all of the current and past employees of Telus who have chosen Delta Hospice to benefit from their charitable giving," said Nancy Macey, executive director of the Delta Hospice Society.

"The corporate matching program increases the value of the individual gifts significantly.

"If the Telus employee giving is as generous in the next two years, the society has the potential to receive $170,000 in total. This donation becomes extremely significant in helping us reduce the remaining funds owning on the construction of the new facilities."

The society has just under $700,000 to raise to cover the cost of construction, equipment and furnishings of the Irene Thomas Hospice and the Harold & Veronica Savage Centre for Supportive Care. Once funded, all future donations will go directly towards patient care.
