Families of students in two different classes at Pinewood Elementary received notification letters this week that staff and students in those classes must self-isolate for 14 days after the last date of the exposure.

A dozen Delta schools are on Fraser Health’s latest list of schools that have had recent COVID-19 exposures.

According to the list published online Friday morning on the health region’s website, 11 of the 12 schools are in North Delta, which the health region has identified as one of the high-transmission hot spot communities in the Lower Mainland.

The list includes: Burnsview Secondary (April 30 and May 3, 4, 5, 6, 10), Chalmers Elementary (May 6, 7), Cougar Canyon Elementary (May 4, 5), Delview Secondary (May 3, 5), Gibson Elementary (May 3, 4, 5), Jarvis Elementary (May 3), North Delta Secondary (May 3, 4, 6), Pinewood Elementary (May 3, 4, 5, 6, 7), Richardson Elementary (May 3, 4, 5, 6, 7), Sands Secondary (May 10, 11) and Sunshine Hills Elementary (May 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).

The only South Delta school on the list is Southpointe Academy (April 30).

Those told to have their children self-isolate were informed their children must remain at home unless urgent medical care is needed.
