Highway 17 semi flipped
Delta Police and Delta Fire are currently on the scene after a commercial truck flipped on Highway 17 in Delta. The westbound lanes in the 6500 block are expected to be closed for several hours.

A westbound section of Highway 17 in Delta is expected to closed for several hours following a single vehicle commercial truck crash on Thursday morning.

Delta Police and Delta Fire were on the scene to deal with the flipped truck that appeared to be carrying scrap metal. The truck and debris are completely blocking both westbound lanes in the 6500 block of Highway 17 between 80th Street and the Highway 99 on ramp.

“It’s very fortunate the lone driver escaped serious injury (with) just minor bumps,” stated Delta Police Cst. Ken Usipiuk on his twitter feed. “Expect a lengthy Highway 17 closure as a lot of resources will be needed.”

Westbound Highway 17 traffic is being detoured onto 80th Street.
