B.C. health officials this week said that as COVID-19 community transmission continues, everyone needs to continue to use all layers of protection.

The owner of Meridian Meats and Meridian Farm Markets in Tsawwassen on Tuesday announced that the business will be temporarily closed out of an abundance of caution following confirmation that one staff member had contracted COVID-19.

On its Facebook page, the 56th Street business noted it contacted Service B.C. and Fraser Health to receive further direction.

The business also noted it has been determined that personal protective equipment measures were maintained and any person who is at risk of exposure has been contacted by health authorities.

The date of the last shift of the infected individual was Feb. 21.

In an update later posted to Facebook, the store manager said the Tsawwassen location is being professionally deep cleaned and sanitized, and will be back open tomorrow business as usual.
