Tsawwassen resident Andrew Conley has announced he's seeking a seat on Delta council in the November civic election.

A new face in the political arena, Conley said he is excited for the opportunity to give back to the community he has called home for nearly 32 years.

"I was raised in Delta, and my parents still live in the house in which I grew up. My roots run deep in this community and I am very passionate about the issues that have been developing over the years. I am looking forward to the possibility of working with the people of Delta to maintain our community's beauty, integrity and liveability."

Conley works as a deckhand at B.C. Ferries, and has worked there for the past 12 years. He owns a condo in Tsawwassen, and has served as a strata council member for the past four years.

Much of Conley's community involvement has stemmed from sports.

Conley said because of its amazing diversity of community and habitat, Delta is enveloped in complicated issues. Any changes need to happen at an appropriate pace and in a manner consistent with the values and expectations of Deltans, he said.
