Nova Scotia RCMP take a suspect, well known to police, into custody. West Vancouver police made a similar arrest Dec. 15, 2021.

You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch.

West Vancouver are seeking to return what appear to be stolen Christmas gifts after catching a suspect attempting to break into parked cars.

Just before 2:30 a.m. on. Dec. 12, police received a report of a man walking up the 1800 block of Bellevue Avenue, checking all of the parked vehicles for unlocked doors.

They arrested the suspect a short time later on the Centennial Seawalk. A search turned up two gift baskets, multiple pairs of designer sunglasses and other items investigators believe to be Christmas contraband.

Now officers want to see the pilfered presents placed under the proper Christmas tree.

“We would really like to get these items back to the rightful owners,” said Const Kevin Goodmurphy, West Vancouver police spokesman. “Someone is likely missing them as they appear to be Christmas gifts.”

The suspect, a 31-year-old West Vancouver man, remains under investigation.

Any with information about the thefts is asked to contact West Vancouver police.
