Val Windsor has been re-elected as Delta school board chair.

Windsor reassumed the role after elections at the Delta School District inaugural board meeting on Nov. 2.

Windsor, who has served on the board since 2011, held the position of vice-chair from 2013 to 2018. She was elected as the board chair for the first time in 2019.

“I’d thank to thank my fellow trustees for the trust in elected me chair for the Delta Board of Education,” said Windsor. “As a team we are all interested in doing what is best for Delta students and I’m proud to represent you as your chair.”

Windsor went on to talk about the past year and working through the pandemic offering thanks for school district staff, teachers, union representatives, students and parents.

“The word unprecedented is so over used these days but it applies to all matters of education,” she said. “Our education system has shown how it can pivot at warp speed to ensure that our students receive an in-person education, all the while accommodating those students who are unable to attend school in-person.

“They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes a village to educate a child. Our entire district staff are all in when it comes to helping kids learn.”

Trustee Daniel Boisvert will continue in the role of vice-chair for the upcoming year. He has served on the Delta Board of Education since 2018 and was elected vice-chair for the first time last year.

The board chair and vice-chair are elected annually.
