A heads-up to motorists in North Delta who travel along Scott Road and Nordel Way - starting Monday, Metro Vancouver's contractor will be working at the intersection of 120 Street/Scott Road and Nordel Way for approximately three weeks.

Metro Vancouver says this work is for construction of the new Kennedy Newton Water Main – Scott Road Section in Surrey and Delta on 120 Street/Scott Road between 86 Avenue and 88 Avenue.

“This work will result in significant traffic delays,” said Metro Vancouver in a news release. “Road users are encouraged to avoid this construction area and should plan an alternate route if possible. To ensure everyone’s safety, motorists are asked to reduce speed in the area and follow the direction of signage and traffic control personnel on-site.”

Impacts include:

*Lane closures on 120 Street/Scott Road and Nordel Way; two-way traffic maintained in all directions

*Right turns periodically restricted at the intersection or allowed on green light only

*South pedestrian crossing at the intersection closed for this period

*Intersections on 120 Street/Scott Road at 86 Avenue and 88 Avenue partially closed. No access to 120 Street/Scott Road on 86 Avenue and 88 Avenue westbound; no access to 86 Avenue and 88 Avenue eastbound from 120 Street/Scott Road

*Cone zone in effect 24 hours a day.

“Construction is occurring at an expedited schedule – work will take place up to 24 hours a day to reduce the overall length of impacts on the community in the area,” says Metro, adding that businesses along both sides of 120 Street/Scott Road remain open and accessible.
