11U Rays prevail in all Delta provincial title game

North Delta Rays capped a perfect run in Cloverdale last weekend with a 4-0 win over the Ladner Red Sox to capture B.C. Minor Baseball's 11U AAA Tier 2 provincial title.

The North Delta Rays are B.C. Minor Baseball’s 11U AAA Tier 2 provincial champions after a perfect 6-0 run in Cloverdale last weekend.

The Rays prevailed 4-0 over the Ladner Red Sox in an all-Delta gold medal game. Kyle Reynolds was superb on the mound, allowing just one walk and striking out eight over six innings.

North Delta struck for three runs in the first on hits by Kyle Crowther, Junior Elder, Marco Robin and Reynolds. Ladner then turned to Jayden Sanghera in third inning and he was terrific in a relief role. The game feature great fielding on both sides with the Red Sox’s two hits coming from Wyatt Spence and Avery Rosen.

Reynolds and Sanghera earned player-of-the-game honour for their respective teams.

The Rays advanced to the final with a 12-2 victory over Vernon, behind the pitching of game MVP Crowther. Earlier, North Delta defeated Nanaimo (12-2), North Langley (6-4), Salmon Arm (12-2) and Cloverdale (7-6) in round-robin play.

The team also features: Alex Juhl, Callum Koncuk, Colton Greenwood, Jackson Parsons, Junior Elder, Kuuto Sakata, Lucas Seath, Mitchell Stringer, Weston Gosnell and Yuuta Lam.

The coaches are Brent Crowther, Jake Elder and Pete Stringer.

Ladner’s run to the silver medal included a 14-4 semi-final win over Nanaimo after earlier round-robin victories against Abbotsford (11-7), Vernon (8-6), Prince George (11-1) and Campbell River (13-3).
